Whatever It Takes

About

The funny thing about percussion maintenance is that it is so multi-disciplinary. Because these instruments are made up of so many contrasting materials, you need multiple skills to address a given issue. It takes sufficient knowledge in Metalworking, Woodworking, Painting, and Finishing to properly repair and maintain these instruments. Thankfully, these are my hobbies. I greatly enjoy taking in a non-functioning instrument, and making it whole and working again, and it would be my passion to do the same for others.

I spent two years serving as a Teaching Assistant to Dr. Lisa Rogers and Professor Alan Shinn at Texas Tech University. My TA position was to maintain and repair TTU's percussion equipment. In my time there, I had taken it upon myself to reorganize their percussion studio, restructure their inventory system, and building a few instruments.
